The controversy began on December 4, when a stampede occured during Pushpa 2 premiere at the Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad, when thousands of fans gathered to catch a glimpse of Allu Arjun. A case was registered against Allu Arjun, his security team, and the theatre management under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Chikkadpally police station, based on a complaint from the deceased woman’s family.

Allu Arjun was arrested on December 13, in connection with the woman’s death. Later that day, he was granted a four-week interim bail by the Telangana high court. In addition, the court set a personal bail bond of Rs 50,000. He was released from prison on December 14.

Post Allu Arjun’s arrest, the deceased woman’s husband said that he was willing to withdraw the case. In his statement, he shared that he doesn’t hold Allu Arjun responsible for the stampede that claimed his wife’s life. “I am ready to withdraw the case. I was not aware of the arrest and Allu Arjun has nothing to do with the stampede in which my wife passed away,” he said.
