After Delhi, Mumbai, Apple to open 4 more retail stores in India

Apple is set to expand its presence in India by opening four more retail stores, following the success of its Delhi and Mumbai outlets. Additionally, the company is now manufacturing the entire iPhone 16 lineup in India, marking a significant shift in its strategy.

Apple is gearing up to expand its footprint in India with four new retail stores. After the massive success of its first two flagship outlets in Delhi and Mumbai, the tech giant is now doubling down on one of its fastest-growing markets, according to a report by Moneycontrol. But that’s not all – Apple is also producing the entire iPhone 16 lineup, including the premium Pro and Pro Max models, right here in India. This marks a huge shift in Apple’s strategy as it strengthens its ties with the country, both as a booming consumer market and a manufacturing hub.

Which Cities Are Getting New Apple Stores?

India’s love affair with Apple products is clearly mutual. Following the huge success of its first stores in Delhi and Mumbai earlier this year, Apple is adding four more locations. The upcoming stores will open in Bengaluru, Pune, and the Delhi-NCR region. Plus, Apple is planning one more store in Mumbai.

The decision to expand so quickly makes sense – the first two stores have been a big hit. The report says that the two stores have contributed significantly to Apple’s revenue in India. According to analysts, Delhi and Mumbai alone make up over a fifth of Apple’s business in the country. It’s clear that India’s growing appetite for luxury gadgets is driving this retail expansion.

Will India Make the iPhone 16?

Apple is now producing the entire iPhone 16 lineup in India, including the high-end iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max. This is a huge deal for both Apple and India. Previously, Apple only made older iPhone models in India, but now they’re stepping up production to include their latest and most premium devices.

The report revealed that Apple is partnering with Foxconn, Pegatron, and Tata Electronics to make these devices. Foxconn is in charge of the iPhone 16, 16 Plus, and Pro Max models, while Pegatron is handling the iPhone 16 and 16 Pro. Tata Electronics will also be making the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus models. These devices will be sold not just in India but also exported to other countries, showcasing India’s growing importance in Apple’s global supply chain.

This shift is a major milestone, especially as Apple moves more of its manufacturing out of China and into countries like India. The fact that Apple’s most expensive iPhones are now being made in India shows just how serious they are about using the country as a long-term manufacturing hub.

Deirdre O’Brien, Apple’s senior vice-president of retail, told Moneycontrol that the company is “thrilled” to expand further into the Indian market. “We’re inspired by the creativity and passion of our customers across this country,” she said. Apple sees its stores as more than just places to shop – they want them to be spaces where people can explore Apple’s products and get expert advice from their team members.
