IPL 12
started on march 23rd unfortunately the first match which was between
CSK and RCB had no fire in it as Virat kohli and his men were on their knees just
after scoring 70 out of 20 overs, Chennai strolled
to a victory in a very low-scoring game.
It was clearly discernible that Kohli and men need to put more efforts and come stronger next time, However on the 3rd match we got to witness an unstoppable and blazing batting from Rishabh pant who smashed 78 off 27 balls with the help of seven sixes and seven boundaries, the guy struggled a lot while playing the final two ODIs for India against Australia.
Putting
aside all the worries Pant chucked DC to 213. Yuvraj Singh enjoyed a successful
debut for his new team, but MI finished at 176, Delhi capitals beat Mumbai
Indians by 37.
Rishabh
pant completed his half century just out
of 18 balls, the fastest fifty by any batsmen vs Mumbai Indians, bettering the
20-ball fifty scored by MS dhoni in 2012.
The record for the fastest fifty by a Delhi batsman remains the 17 ball half century by Chris Morris vs Gujrat at Delhi on April 27, 2016.
Yuvraj singh feels
that Rishabh Pant is an outstanding talent and should be groomed properly so
that he becomes the next big thing in Indian cricket
Pant had an outstanding season last year as well. He is
playing well in Test matches as well. To score two hundreds overseas at such an
age (21 years) shows his character. It is important that we groom him well and
hopefully he is the next big thing for us,” said Yuvraj.
Yuvraj said that skipper Rohit Sharma’s early dismissal had an effect as they were chasing a big total.
“Losing wickets early on is not an ideal scenario in T20
cricket. So that partnership (with Dhawan) was vital at that time. I have only
been here for a couple of days and it’s good to build relations quickly. With
that partnership with Shikhar, we got to know each other quickly. That set the
base for our innings to explode,” he added.
