Terrorists take two civilians hostage one rescued: Srinagar

Two civilians were taken hostage by the terrorists  during an encounter in Hajin in locality of North Kashmir’s Banadipora district.

On Thursday Jammu&Kashmir police said that one is rescued safely and the other hostage — reportedly a minor — might have been killed during the operation said the police official.

Three militants were killed in encounters with security forces on Friday in Shopian and Bandipora districts of Jammu and Kashmir

Two militants and a jawan were killed in an overnight while five security men were injured as security foces battled each other in J&K army officer said. Three terrorists are still trapped in the area, Security forces started a cordon and a search operation in Mir mohalla area of Hajin following intelligence inputs about the presence of militants there.

An Army rifleman was killed on Thursday after Pakistan infringed ceasefire along the line of control in the Rajouri district.

Soldier Yash Paul who was just 24 lost his life in ceasefire violation by Pakistan in Sunderbani. Two Jaish-e-Mohammad militants were killed in an encounter while three army men including an officer were injured in an encounter on Thursday in Baramulla.

On Thursday an officer and two policemen got injured in a grenade attack by militants in sopore township. Police said that the injured have been hospitalized.

Another gun battle broke out between militants and security forces in Sopore area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district and no casualties have been reported so far, a police official said. 


A police spokesman said one of the slain militants was Amir Rasool, a local from Sopore, while the other was a Pakistani national.
